My Story

I’m originally from Andover, New Hampshire and grew up with two soccer-playing older brothers who are still my favorite people to workout and train with! I committed to UConn my junior year of high school and played three years in the Big East. My junior year of college I decided to explore other options, entered the transfer portal, and found a new home at the University of Houston in the Big 12.

I struggled at times in my playing career to take care of myself in the right way, whether it was mentally or physically. I never wanted to admit I was struggling out of fear of judgement and losing my starting spot. I convinced myself that needing help or being honest about what I was going through would place me in the category of “unstable” or “weak” which is never where any player wants to be in their coaches eyes.

Working out and training had always been an emotional outlet for me since I was young. When one of my family members was faced with a difficult diagnosis after my sophomore year, every feeling or worry I had I turned into an extra rep or another hour on the turf.

Not only was I struggling emotionally, I wasn’t fueling my body properly. I was avoided “unhealthy” foods, or any high-carb or high-fat food. I wanted to get stronger, fitter, and workout and train as much as possible, but wasn’t putting enough effort into making sure my body and mind were getting what they needed for me to actually become a better player.

My goal is to support athletes through sharing easy, healthy recipes as well as my favorite workout and recovery routines. Taking care of your mind and body is essential to finding success in athletics and life in general. Follow @FueledbyFia on Instagram and TikTok!
